Gerald is the Chief of Staff of Barclays Bank Kenya working closely with Jeremy Awori, the CEO in strategy execution. He joined Barclays Bank Kenya on 1st January 2014.
In his immediate former role, Gerald was a Director in the Global Corporates team in London where he was responsible for regional client coverage for the UK and European regions and business development for the Africa franchise spanning 12 countries. Gerald joined Barclays in September 2008 and during his career in the Bank he has worked in roles within Strategy, Consumer Banking and Commercial Development, including a 9 month international assignment in Uganda.
Prior to joining Barclays, Gerald worked at Cadbury Schweppes between 2001 and 2007 where he held positions in Sales and Marketing with responsibility covering emerging markets in Europe, Middle East and Africa. Gerald held regional assignments for the company in South Africa and Nigeria.
Gerald holds a BSc Physics and Mathematics from the University of Nairobi as well as a MBA from London Business School, United Kingdom. Gerald also holds a Chartered Institute of Marketing Diploma.
In 2005, Gerald founded the Precious Sisters Charity in Kenya – the Charity supports individuals from deprived backgrounds to go beyond primary school by sponsoring them through secondary school This is aimed at providing these pupils with an option to access university education. As at the end of 2015, the charity had supported and actively mentored more 187 girls (93 in school & 84 alumni) in four schools with 90% of them securing admission to local and international universities. Gerald won the Barclays Global Citizenship Awards in 2015 for the work he has done with Precious Sisters Charity.
